Situation / Challenge

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) — originally the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) — is a self-sustaining U.S. government agency launched in 2020, that finances solutions to critical challenges facing the developing world today. Working together with businesses, DFC mobilizes private capital to invest in projects that create opportunity in emerging markets. DFC helps advance America’s foreign policy by partnering with projects that create economic stability and ensure transparency.

DFC’s immediate challenge was to establish and develop a comprehensive suite of brand collateral for the new agency launch.

Approach

After a thorough brand discovery, Sage designed and developed a series of brand collateral for the new agency launch, including a new website and splash page; fact sheets; a lobby sign; a logo puzzle sign for internal purposes; thirty-second animated videos; and graphics for social media.

The new DFC.gov website follows a user-first experience with mobile-friendly pages and an engaging user interface design. The homepage features an interactive map highlighting DFC’s investment portfolio, in which the user clicks on a continent to reveal Total Active Commitments and spending. The Priorities landing page and interior pages highlight top areas of focus for the agency, ranging from a 2X Women’s Initiative to impact investing. The interior pages of this Priorities section feature a mix of stylized treatments from callouts and card-style blocks highlighting key information, to a static adaptation of the homepage map capturing economic impact around the world.

Sage built the site uniformly so that all components worked together seamlessly to tell a cohesive story on all devices. We also prioritized clean design and simple navigation to support ease of use and to keep stories front and center. And we captured the untold stories of meaningful investments made by DFC, bringing them to life through engaging design and impactful strategy.
